I understand the anxiety that can be associated with standardized testing. This year, I am offering testing the Iowa Test for Basic Skills Form E – this is the same test I used in 2018 and 2019. This is an untimed test. I prefer that, as it helps to alleviate some of the stress associated with testing. This test is listed as approved for state testing for both Oregon and Washington State.
This test allows for a wide range of age groups to be tested together and is expected to take approximately 3 – 4 hours. This test will be done in a single session and can be registered through this website. The Iowa test is aligned with common core. It is a great test for meeting state requirements and acquiring a good understanding of what areas your child is excelling at and where they may need more practice. This will help you both as a parent and a teacher. (The Iowa test - is it one of the standard tests given in several states- answers will be multiple choice - so what matters, for example, is the answer in math - not the method. It is one of the tests that BJU offers on their site - since they provide curriculum that is not aligned with Common Core - I don't believe they would offer a test that profoundly opposes the beliefs of what they teach in their curriculum.) In order to keep testing times down, optional sections will not be tested - this still meets state requirements. I will be testing grades 3-12 for this test. **If you have a student testing in 3rd grade – they will need to come early. The 3rd grade students have an extra test that is required. We will do this portion first so that other students are not delayed in any way.
****Please note - I am not able to offer private testing at this time. Additionally, if your child is one that requires more one on one attention, is easily distracted or may be a distraction for others - this is not the best environment for them.****
The Iowa test includes the following subjects –

Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Studies with minors in Education and Business from Portland State Univ.
In the event that a student finishes early, I will text you so you that you may come and pick them up. The cost for the testing fee is $50 per student, for the Iowa test, payable to me via PayPal or personal check. This does not include the cost of the testing materials. Payment does need to be received no later than 2 weeks prior to the first test date.
You will need to purchase your test materials and have them sent to me. You will do that at https://www.bjupresshomeschool.com/category/homeschool-iowa-form-e. To select the proper test, you will choose the test for the grade level that your child is completing. For example, if your child is currently in 3rd grade and will be entering the 4th grade in the fall, you would order Iowa Assessments Grade 3 (Form E, Level 9) test. You will be asked to select your tester – please enter my zip code - 97123 under "find a tester" and you will be able to select my name. You may find it easier to order over the phone with a BJU customer service person at 800.845.5731. They are very helpful - just provide them with my tester id #76325497. Tests need to be ordered 4-6 weeks in advance of your test date to avoid rush fees.
Your tests will be mailed directly to me. Be sure to enter the test date that you are signing up for. Additionally, if asked at the time of order, your child’s full date of birth and full name will need to be entered, as well as your email address. The registration form will ask all the questions needed for the testing form. I will fill those things in for you in advance of the testing day to help save time and avoid mistakes. I will ask you to review the test form on the first day of testing to confirm the information is correct.
At the end of the test, all materials will stay with me. I will not be grading them. I will be mailing off all the materials and completed tests to BJU. I will make sure to include insurance on the package. BJU will facilitate the scoring of the tests. You will be receiving your child’s test scores electronically. I will not see them. This will be for your eyes only. Should you have any additional questions, please feel free to email me.
Thank you,
